In the last few years, I designed a number of web sites for friends and non-profits. In the past couple of years, I've been asked to develop web sites for two churches. I've enjoyed working on them and believe I've found my niche.

The goal of a church website is to give the world a portal into the life of a church. The text should give a flavor of the people and programs of the church. The pictures should tell a story and capture the essence of the people of the church.

This is one of my favorite pictures from the Holliston UCC website. I like this picture because it reflects her life experience and personality. I took this picture at an outdoor service:

Many church websites suffer from the same problems:

A lack of pictures

Poor Navigation

Outdated information

Visually boring

Church websites should be

Visually arresting

Full of current information about a church's life

Replete with pictures of the congregation and ministries in action

Be easy to navigate and find information

Here are before and after pictures of two websites I worked on:

  After

Before

  After
St Peter's old website
